Getting Here
Mapowders Lodge is on site at Mapowders Farm, Stratton Bude, EX23 9NR. What3words: rats.tricycle.player

Mapowders Farm is located opposite Homeleigh garden centre, on the A3072 just outside Stratton. Take the small lane beside the thatched cottage (Howards Lane) and the driveway is first left with the lodge just up on the left. You have your own gated driveway for dog security and there is room for 3 vehicles (please let us know if you have more than one car coming).

We are a smallholding site rather than a working farm but if you fancy collecting some fresh eggs from ‘the Mapowders girls’, please let us know. Michelle is a renowned dog trainer and we have converted most of the land to use for our dog training and secure field business. Pease ask if you’d like to combine some training with your stay. You can see what Michelle does at Mapowders.co.uk

There is a bus stop just by the house if you want to take the bus into town.

Gaining Access
The lodge will be open when you arrive (we live on site) and the key will be hanging up for you to use during your stay

Wifi
We are lucky to get Superfast Broadband in the area but please don’t expect 100Mbps (this is Cornwall!)
Login details can be found in the lodge handbook.

Smart TV
You are welcome to use your Netflix, Prime Video or other account on the Smart TV. Don't forget to delete the password before you leave.

Water and Waste - IMPORTANT
Rather than mains sewers, we have our own water treatment plant at Mapowders. This is eco-friendly and works brilliantly but there are a number of things we need to be careful with to avoid upsetting the balance of the treatment plant.

-
Please DO NOT flush anything but toilet paper (use the bin provided for other sanitary products)
-
Please use the provided Ecover washing products as they are designed to work with our treatment plant.

Oven
The oven and hob are fairly simple to use but the manuals are in the lodge handbook should you need them.

Washing Machine
The washing machine is simple to use but the manual is in the information booklet. Please use the provided Ecover washing products due to our on-site water treatment plant. Please note that as our water is so soft a little detergent - whether for washing up or for washing clothes - goes a long way.
There is a clothes airer in the second bedroom and a washing line attached to the back fence which pulls across to the lodge.

Towels can be dried on the electric towel rail in the bathroom. Please do not use this for drying wetsuits

DO NOT use the electric heaters for drying clothes.

Iron and Ironing board
Please let us know if you need these

Fridge
There is an undercounter fridge in the kitchen with Ice box and ice making tray.

Microwave
The 800W Microwave is simple to use and operated via the front panel. The manual is in the lodge handbook

Nespresso Coffee Machine
To use the Nespresso machine, fill up the clear water container at the back of the machine and switch the machine on. The lights will flash blue as it heats up. The machine is ready when the lights stop flashing.
Put a coffee pod in, place a coffee cup under the spout (don't forget!) and press the large or small cup button to start the machine.
We have provided a small selection of pods to get you started but please do bring your own preferred Nespresso capsules if you wish.

Vacuum
A dustpan and brush is available under the sink. A vacuum cleaner is available on request

Kitchenware
We provide a 6 place dining set, mugs, table glasses, pint glasses and wine glasses. A range of saucepans, frying pans and various cooking utensils are included.

The following store cupboard items are provided:
Tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, cooking oil, ketchup, brown sauce, vinegar, foil and cling film.

Butter, flora and milk individual packs are available on request.

We realise that accidents can happen - if you break or lose anything please do let us know so that we can ensure replacements in time for our next guests.

Heating
The electric heaters in the lodge are controlled independently and are very efficient but the timer system is rather complex! Please let us know if you’d like the heaters on timer. Otherwise, you can switch them to manual control using the ‘MAN/AUT’ button and set the temperature as required.

The towel rail will be set to warm the towels for an hour in the morning.
Departure
Check out time is 10am. We may be able to extend this but cannot guarantee it so please contact us ASAP.

Please strip your beds of sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers and leave by the side of the bed. The protective covers on the mattresses should not be removed Please leave the duvets and pillows neatly on the bed they came from. Please place used towels, tea towels etc in the shower.

Recycling
Mixed recycling can be placed in the black box on the patio. Cornwall Council recycles cardboard, paper, cans, glass and generally recycled plastic containers and packaging. Food waste is not separately recycled so goes in the black bin bags.

Rubbish
Please place any back bags of rubbish outside the lodge on departure
